Currency unit is Turkish Lira, ₺ (Türk Lirası, TL). Introduced in 1923 replacing the Ottoman lira.

From January 1, 2009, turnover includes new banknotes and coins. “New Turkish Lira”, which entered into circulation, after the denomination, has been replaced by “the Turkish lira.” Using of the “New Turkish Lira” ended in December 31, 2009.
